Fangirl Moment

I saw the Bellydance Superstars show last night!
I know a few people have said that their current show wasn’t their favorite. If I’d seen some of their other shows or even seen a bellydance show on that scale before maybe I could say I liked those shows better, but I’d never seen anything like it and I have to say I thought it was spectacular and absolutely loved it. The ladies are gorgeous and the talent is even more gorgeous. I thought it was a beautiful spectacle from beginning to end. And I admit to being a little twitterpated at seeing in person the dancers whose DVD’s had inspired me.
Rachel Brice is amazing. I swear she has no bones she just slinks around on a rubber skeleton. And, as being someone who is very short and who laments not being taller and longer limbed in order to have a longer body to work with, I was surprised to find, when she autographed my tour postcard, that she’s only an inch or two taller than me. That made me feel really good and inspired. She’s a gorgeous teeny little waif. I never would have known. My dance teacher took a picture of me and her. When I get it I’ll see about posting it.
She tried to take one of me and Jillina but she couldn’t get the camera to work. Oh well, Jillina was very gracious and patient with us as I stood there with my arm around her waist giggling embarrassedly for several minutes while my teacher tried to get the camera to work. Finally we let her go and she smiled and said something to the effect of “Well, we’ll take a picture in our minds and remember this moment!” I thought it was sweet.
I think I saw the sweetest thing ever too. When I was in the lobby waiting to get Rachel Brice to sign my card, a little boy (I think I heard his mom say he was 7) came up to Rachel with a piece of tribal jewelry and gave it to her. His mom told her said that he’d saved up his allowance for it. She hugged him and he said “When I grow up, I’m going to marry a bellydancer!”
Anyway, I had a magical evening. :-)
Sorry about the gushing, just had to! I'm still excited and eyeing the tribal cuff bracelet and the dvd I got from the venders.
