Some of you might have noticed that I haven't had any real-life, non-fandom related enteries in a little while.

Just so you know, it's just because absolutely nothing interesting is going on in my life.

I get up, I watch tv, I go to my work where I sit and dial a phone and read a book and a few times a day I read an interview and get answeres to questions with the few people who don't hang up on me, then I come home and either hand out online, write, draw maybe, or maybe fiddle with my sewing machine.

I have no life.

Just in case anyone was wondering.

I will say one thing though, because people are stupid.

Dear about 95% of the people I call on the phone,

It is not my fault you were too stupid to actually read what the "Do not call list" is, and find out that applies to telemarketers. God forbid you read something before you sign it, right?

It is also not my fault you're too stupid to actually figure out that surveys are research, not marketing. If you don't know what the words "market" and "solisit" mean, let me spell it out: IT MEANS THAT THEY ARE CALLING TO ACTUALLY SELL YOU SOMETHING. I am not. Therefore, the list does not apply to me.

It really is quite a simple concept.

So, when you shout at me and tell me that what I am doing is illegal because you are on the "Do not call list" and you are going to sue me, it only proves that you are a dumbass. It serves no other purpose.

I hang up, laugh at you, and put you down for a callback. Because, in order for me to put you down as a refusal and not have you get called again, I AM REQUIRED to assertain that you knew that it was a servey, not a solitiation that you were refusing.

When you scream at me that you're on the do not call list and hang up, I am REQUIRED to assume you thought I was trying to sell you something and I schedule you to be called back.

And, you deserve it.

Asswipe.

(Sorry, can you tell this happens to me about ever five minutes every single day at work?)

The brotherlet has the same problem; I can only say that I'm relieved to be on a program that has absolutely no outbound calling, because it would tire me out to have to explain the same thing over and over again, especially if I can actually see where they're coming from. Even if what phone researchers do isn't illegal, you can probably see why it's annoying to get a call asking if you want to watch a video.

On a higher note, it IS a paycheck, you know?

P.S.: Am moving tomorrow; want to possibly plan to come over the following weekend to visit and/or check out the HP figurines? I'll even plan to make dinner or something. :>

Luckily I don't have to ask anyone to watch anything. The only thing I do is read a bunch of multiple choice questions, have them tell me what answer they put, then not bother them anymore.

Ok, most of them take between 15 and 25 minutes, but still.

And yes, I'd love to come over this weekend to look at the figureines and stuff and warm your new appartment. I'll call you when I get home from dance class. It'll probably be around 5:30 or 6ish.

Well like I said, not this weekend but the following one; I'd say the weeknight but I know you work and I won't get home until 5:30-ish, so Friday or Saturday would be more convenient. Just drop me a line. :D

I feel you. I used to actually be a telemarketer and when people were rude to us, me and my colleagues would add them to our secret "prank call" list and we would get our revenge later when we were at home. Mwa ha ha.

(OK I never did any pranking but we at least had a list, lol).

We have fantasized about that so many times but never actually done it. :-)

The problem is I'm not even a telemarketer. I work in research doing political and market research polls and verious other servyes. *Sigh*

Do you at least have a funny names list? Like, to make fun of funny names you find? We had that...like, Mr Hardcock, etc etc. :)

Immature but it kept us sane.

We usually don't get listed sample with names, though we do once in a while.

80% of the time we work from a randomly generated sample of numbers. Which is fun, because when you have a computer dialing random numbers all day you'd be amazed at how many of the people who answer the phone are bat-shit-crazy.

SERIOUSLY.

We do end up with a lot of great stories to swap.
