Lost Finale
Well, as I quipped in my Facebook "I love Lost, and have wanted to see how it would end for years. Now I've seen the last episode and I still don't know how it ended."
Ok, that was a joke. I agree with the opinion Jimmy Kimmel said on his show, and that is basically if you were expecting a nicely packaged tied up ending with no loose ends and nothing you had to interpret or work out for yourself, you probably never got the show to begin with.
Sill, there were things that I wanted connected up that never got connected up. Here's what I really wanted cleared up:
I guess I want to better understand the connection between Jacob and the Man in Black and the glowing well life source good/evil thing, and the Dharma Initative. That's the connection I'm just not making... how much did they know... and I guess I still don't REALLY understand what Dharma was actually DOING other than 'research' and 'experiments' on the island's unique properties.
Oh well... a lot of people went 'down the rabbit hole' further than I did. I'm sure if I dig through lostpedia I'll understand more than I do... but still. What the hell, Dharma!
As for me? I like to think that the island was real, and that what happened on the island was real. Jack died after passing the 'guardianship' of the island onto Hurley and saving the spring waterfall well thing and the island.
His father told him that there is no 'now' here and the people there died before and some long after him. Hurley died after finding another candidate and passing the torch, and everyone else was united. I kind of like it that way.
Though the idea that the whole thing was a purgatory that Jack had to go through in his last dying seconds works too, and that they all just died in the plane crash.
I'd of course be interested in hearing other theories too.
